After the success of his Powell bar and lounge, owner Dustin Sun is bringing Hawaiian vibes to the downtown area.

It was reported by Columbus Underground that Huli Huli Tiki Lounge is coming to a second location at 22 E Mound Street this year. It is replacing the former Jury Room venue and will serve many of the same tiki cocktails, plates and sandwiches. Sun told What Now Columbus he is hoping to debut the bar at the end of April or early May, depending on inspections.

When Sun opened Huli Huli Tiki Lounge in 2019 at 26 W Olentangy Street in Powell, it became a popular spot for Ohio State students and locals. It is open year-round, with a Hawaiian-themed back patio to enjoy during warmer weather. The bar is situated in the city’s downtown, across from Prohibition Gastro Lounge.

Sun said visitors at the new location can expect similar drinks to their Powell bar, including the Blue Hawaii with Ketel One vodka, Planteray 3 Star, pineapple and lemon blue curacao. On the food side, starters like their Huli Huli wings and coconut shrimp are served, along with entrees like lobster roll, fish and chips and their kalua pork sandwiches with BBQ sauce. Sun is again working with chef Chad Roth to bring their signature dishes.

“It’s very important we have a core staff,” Sun said. He added Trader Nic from the Powell location will be in charge of his cocktail program.

The tiki lounge will be near the corner of E Mound and S High streets, with concepts at the corner including Dempsey’s Food & Spirits and Silav Cafe & Grill. This is on the south side of downtown, close to German Village. Bicentennial Park is also a short walk west of the location.

Once final inspections are finished, Sun will announce an official opening date. More updates can be found on Huli Huli Tiki Lounge’s Facebook page.
