One of Miami’s most loved and lauded barbecue places is coming to Delray Beach.
Drinking Pig BBQ, helmed by chef Raheem Sealey, is opening at 22 W Atlantic Avenue in Sundy Village.
Sealey, along with Yohanir Sandoval, and Mark Wint, started Drinking Pig as a pandemic pop-up in North Miami-Dade. The three-person crew would smoke brisket, pork ribs, chicken wings and more low and slow; serving the succulent meats alongside mac and cheese, collard greens, and cornbread. What started as a keep-busy project to feed friends and neighbors turned into a sensation, with the pop-up selling out daily.
A few months back, Drinking Pig opened its first brick-and-mortar in Coconut Grove, in partnership with Ariete Hospitality Group (Ariete, Chug’s Diner, Chuggies, and more) and Mae’s Group. The restaurant allowed the team to spread their wings, offering the same core menu with some additional items — all with the same care and a touch of Asian and Caribbean flavors.
Now, Sealey is opening Drinking Pig Delray on his own, with a goal of swinging the doors wide open in time for a July Fourth celebration. The chef tells What Now Miami that the menu will offer the same core items — and same core quality. The chef describes the care it takes to make that brisket platter before you: Prime beef that’s seasoned and cooked for 14 hours, corn hand shucked for the cornbread, sourcing organic collard greens. “We’re trying to give you quality. It may be barbecue, but I’m still cheffing it a lot,” he says.
The menu in Delray, says Sealey, will likely expand with more sandwiches and sides, and a few salads. “The goal is to create the cool barbecue we’ve been doing and also cater to the office workers and residents of Delray Beach,” says Sealey.
