Marco’s Pizza is continuing to expand its footprint in Texas with another opening, this time in Galveston. According to a recently filed permit, Marco’s Pizza will open the next location in The Plaza at Galveston at 6339 Stewart Road.

The permit for the new Marco’s Pizza opening in Galveston soon details that construction is slated to start in May and wrap up in August.

While there are nearly 20 Marco’s Pizza locations nearby in Houston, this would be the first Marco’s Pizza to come to The Oleander City.

Founded in 1987 by Italian immigrant Pasquale “Pat” Gimmarco, Marco’s Pizza first opened in Oregon, Ohio. The local Toledo-area pizzeria has grown to more than 1,200 Marco’s Pizza locations across 35 states, with Texas having the highest concentration.

“Marco’s Pizza is the nation’s fastest-growing pizza brand*, recently crossing the $1B annual systemwide sales milestone,” the Marco’s Pizza website reads.

“The achievement comes on the heels of record-breaking growth and is due in large part to its people-first culture that has helped catapult its strong performance as America’s No. 5 pizza brand in systemwide sales*.”

What Now Houston reached out to Marco’s Pizza Co-CEO and President, Tony Libardi, to find out more details about this exciting new addition to the Galveston community, but did not hear back by the time of this publication.

A huge part of the brand’s rapid and ongoing expansion is franchising. Marco’s Pizza began to franchise in 2004, when Jack Butorac took over franchising for the growing pizza brand. By 2018, Marco’s Pizza had grown to 900 stores.

Stuart Sanchez is the franchisee for the new Marco’s Pizza set to come to Galveston. What Now Houston reached out to Sanchez, but did not hear back by the time of this publication. This will not be the first Marco’s Pizza location for Sanchez, who continues to grow with the booming franchise.

“Our flour, sauce, and three signature cheeses make our product distinctly Marco’s. We prepare the dough daily in our stores and keep customers coming back,” the website reads.

Known for its authentic, “Primo” Italian-American pizza, Giammarco developed a signature sauce and three-cheese blend to ensure Marco’s Pizza’s iconic quality. Today, the brand offers a wide variety of pizzas, including its specialty pizzas like the Garden and White Cheezy, a plethora of Magnifico Pizzas to choose from, pizzolispizza bowlscalzonessubswings, and salads. Marco’s Pizza also offers desserts and breads.

The new Marco’s Pizza that is anticipated to open in Galveston this summer is slated to open in The Plaza at Galveston at 6339 Stewart Road.
