The owner of a Northeast Ohio chain is bringing a healthy option to Short North.
The Fruit Stand is a trendy make-your-own fruit bowl chain in the Cleveland area heading south to 1130 N High Street this year. This is just in time for spring, as the bowls are popular this time of year. Owner Jason Carpinelli told What Now Columbus he is aiming to open the second week of April, but has not finalized a date.
Carpinelli currently has locations in Cleveland, Kent, Broadview Heights, Fairlawn, Aurora, Brunswick and Lakewood. Along with the new Columbus stand, he has plans to continue expansion around Cleveland and Columbus. Carpinelli opened the first stand in 2021 in Kent.
Those visiting a Fruit Stand location first choose their bowl type, smoothie bowl, fresh cut fruit, vanilla pound cake, oatmeal or seasonal bowl. Then, they can choose the size ranging from junior to large, followed by choosing the fruits, crunchie additions like granola or waffle cone, and finally adding a sauce topping of choice. The “drizzles” range from nutella to peanut butter to agave.
“Build your dream bowl. Fresh fruits, bold flavors and endless combos–your perfect bite starts here,” says the menu description on the website.
The fruit spot is opening next to The 1126 Sushi Restaurant, on the north side of Short North. As of now, Vella & Co. Candle Studio is housed at the storefront. This is across the street from Stash House Vintage and ICON Jazz Lounge.
