Smalls Sliders, the slider chain with the distinctive prefab “can” structures founded in Baton Rouge in 2019, has been all over the news in Florida. There’s been recent word about expansion in the Jacksonville, Orlando, and Miami markets, and now submitted plan review paperwork shows more expansion planned for the Tampa Bay market as well.
This week, What Now examined documents showing a new Smalls Sliders planned for 19105 Wingshooter Way in Lutz.
In keeping with its ready-to-go construction, the Smalls Sliders menu keeps things fast and streamlined. It features sliders, seasoned waffle fries, soft drinks, and shakes. Upgrades include Biggie Smalls (Double meat, Double Cheese per slider), bacon, fries the Smalls Way—i.e. covered in “Smauce” and Queso.
When a new Smalls Sliders comes into town, it’s celebrated with what’s called a “Can Drop,” when the modular shipping-container style structure is set down in place.
“It builds up a lot of hype,” one Smalls Sliders franchisee told What Now Jacksonville earlier this month. “You can drive by at 7 a.m. and there’s nothing, and then drive by at 8 a.m. and there’s the whole restaurant.”
Dropping in the Wingshooter Way location, the new Smalls Sliders would join restaurants like Swig, Andy’s Frozen Custard, and Greenlane.
