“] told What Now Atlanta (WNA) Tuesday that she is happy to have found a new home for the retail cafe in Sweet Auburn Curb Market, at 209 Edgewood Avenue Southwest. The new outpost will open later this month.
In addition to selling a variety of loose leaf teas and freshly brewed tea at the new outpost, Shelton will be offering classes and afternoon tea. Additionally, Just Add Honey will be open until 6 PM, with a happy hour around 5, in order to encourage more activity in the building in the late afternoons. Most tenants in Sweet Auburn Curb Market close around 3 or 4.
The cafe will be taking advantage of patio space at the market as well.
The retail cafe currently standing at 171 Auburn Ave Northeast was originally the winner of a pop-up shop awarded by Central Atlanta Progress, in a contest for companies who wanted to be near the Atlanta Street Car route. After a recent rent increase, tenants from all of the pop-up shops are leaving.
Shelton began her business in 2006, selling tea in wholesale to Atlanta Botanical Gardens, the Intercontinental Hotel, Loews Atlanta Hotel, and other establishments. She opened the Just Add Honey retail cafe in June of 2014.
“The Old Fourth Ward neighborhood has been a great and inviting community,” Shelton told WNA. All of her employees are students at neighboring Georgia State University.
