Cuisine from an island off the coast of India has proved to be a popular option in Columbus.
From 614NOW, CoccoKay Bites is getting a second location ready at 170 W Olentangy Street. The restaurant will be larger than their carryout spot in Short North, with the same Sri Lanken snacks and bubble teas fans have come to expect. The owner has not released an opening date, but it is debuting soon.
CoccoKay Bites currently serves out of a quick-service location at 2864 N High Street, offering biryani, appetizers and veggie entrees like chana masala. Their fried rice and noodles are popular options, with flavors like shrimp and chicken fried rice. For bakery snacks, the location offers veggie buns, chicken rolls and fish stuffed rotti.
The owner is listed as Balaganthan Somakandan, who also recently opened the High Street location. The Short North spot is fairly new as it was listed on the Ohio Secretary of State website in late 2025. When contacted, Somakandan was not available for comment.
The new CoccoKay Bites is coming to the corner of W Powell Road and Traditions Way. Also at the building are Novella Osteria and Mr. Bean Coffee and Gelato. The area is just west of downtown Powell.
Updates on CoccoKay Bites and the future location can be found on their Instagram or Facebook pages.
