A new sports bar and pub is preparing to open its doors in St. Pete. It’s called Jackson’s St. Pete, and when it opens at 1700 34th St S., it will bring back the kind of comfortable neighborhood pub that co-owner Dan Soronen says the area has been missing.
The restaurateur, who previously owned a similar concept not far away, told What Now on Tuesday that part of the appeal of the project was bringing a more elevated, chef-driven approach to the table.
“We don’t have this kind of atmosphere on the south side of St. Pete right now,” said Soronen. “It’s going to have a warm, pub feel with a decent number of TVs and mostly booth seating. We were excited to get the chance to open that kind of neighborhood pub, and we thought, rather than just doing sandwiches and pizza, let’s do something chef-driven.”
The space, which previously served as an event venue, was already outfitted with a kitchen, but one which had never been used. The team at Jackson plans to warm up the kitchen space with a streamlined menu that will, at first, feature 5-6 entrees and 3-4 salads.
“And we’ll be going heavy on the specials,” Soronen says. “With two to three specials a night, until we get the full menu really figured out.”
And so, future guests can expect seating for about 120, with a cozy public-house feel, and a well-crafted menu headed up by a chef-led kitchen.
“It’s going to be a fun, comfortable spot, where you can have a great dinner while watching the game. It’ll be great for date night, too.”
Jackson’s St. Pete’s social media presence should be launching soon, so keep your eyes peeled!
