Jersey Mike’s, the sub shop with Jersey Shore ties, is opening up a shop in Celebration.

FB Holdings WTS Celebration LLC filed permit applications with the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation to open a Jersey Mike’s Sub Shop at 43 Blake Boulevard in Celebration. The official Jersey Mike’s website confirms the news, adding that the restaurant is “in development”. No opening date has been announced.

Jersey Mike’s was founded in 1956 in Point Pleasant, New Jersey, when Michael Ingravallo opened a sub shop on the boardwalk. In 1975, Peter Cancro purchased the shop while he was just a teenager. Cancro used a loan from his football coach. That one shop has expanded to more than 4,000 locations either open or planned.

Jersey Mike’s is known for its hot and cold subs, including the Mike’s Hot Italian with ham, salami, pepperoni, and melted provolone cheese topped with grilled onions, lettuce, tomatoes, and hot chopped pepper relish. Subs can be customized with meats, vegetables, and cheeses, and hot subs can be made with steak, chicken, or grilled mushrooms.
