A new German-style brewery is heading to Greensboro this summer. Co-owner Chris Myers told What Now Charlotte that they are targeting a June opening at 214 Commerce Place for Three Rabbits Brewing.
The brewery’s name is a nod to the symbol for Paderborn, a town in Germany whose cathedral features a window displaying terracotta rabbits. Myers and his family spent a year there while his father was on a fellowship as a professor in Germany, so the symbol represents a key element of his family’s history.
The spot will span 3,400 square feet, with a 1,500-square-foot taproom. The remainder of the space will be dedicated to production.
The taproom will feature a German pub atmosphere. Menu offerings will focus on German-style beer but will also have other options such as IPAs, stouts and sours.
“I want to share my passion for German-style beer, but I have a passion for all beer,” Myers said. “That won’t stop us from creating other beers people will enjoy.”
Other beverage options will include ciders, guest taps, wine and nonalcoholic beers. There will also be bar snacks and food trucks on site throughout the week.
The team is hoping to create a welcoming environment for the community. They plan to host a grand opening in late summer.
“It will be a place to have a place other than work and home to be. We’re looking to be a meeting place,” Myers said. “We really want to focus on community. We will sell our beer to other bars, but our biggest focus is our taproom and serving draft beer there. We want to make sure when you come there we serve the freshest beer and make it a fun, comfortable place to be.”
