Purr-fecto Cat Lounge is bringing the Greater San Antonio community a cute and cuddly dining option with a cat-inspired twist. According to a recently filed permit, the cat-adoption cafe is slated to open in the Southtown Lone Star District at 227 E Cevallos St, Suite 101.

The Texas Department of Licening and Regulation document details that construction on the new coffee shop is expected to start in June and wrap up by the end of September.

“We’re aiming for a September opening, if all the whiskers and tails align!” Purr-Fecto Cat Lounge owner, Lupita Adams, said in an interview with What Now San Antonio.

“We love the Lone Star District! It has great energy, is very accessible, and, very importantly, has plenty of parking. We want our guests to feel relaxed from the moment they arrive.”

Founded in South Austin in 2022, Purrfecto Cat Lounge serves as a “five-star luxury hotel for rescue cats,” aiding in over 500 adoptions in its first two years. The lounge features a white-and-lavender setting perfect for coffee and conversation and hosts events such as yoga and painting classes.

“It’s a bright, happy, ‘purr-ple’ space designed for both people and cats,” Adams said.
“Think cozy, playful, and full of personality, a cat’s world where guests can relax, connect, and maybe even fall in love with their future pet.”
The café is known for its “speed dating for cats” approach, allowing visitors to connect with potential pets in a curated setting. As of early 2023, the lounge had already facilitated over 400 adoptions, averaging one adoption per day.
The Purr-Fecto Cat Cafe was slated to debut in San Antonio last year as a wine bar and cat cafe.
“It really came from our community. The demand from San Antonio guests, combined with the need we saw locally for more adoption-focused spaces, made it feel like the perfect next step,” Adams said.
“We’ve had so many visitors from San Antonio come to our Austin location, asking us to expand. When we visited the area, we saw the incredible work local foster-based rescues are doing, powered by donations and pure love. We knew we had to be part of that and help more cats find forever homes in San Antonio.”
While it is unknown if the new San Antonio cafe will indeed still feature wine, customers can expect a “cat-astic” menu.
“We like to keep things fun and on-theme, let’s just say everything you eat or drink has a little cat-inspired twist (without the fur lol),” Adams said.
“Our mission is at the heart of everything we do: helping overwhelmed shelters, increasing adoptions, and creating meaningful connections between people and cats. We’re proud to be approaching 2,000 adoptions, with record-low return rates, and we’re excited to bring that same impact to San Antonio.”
With a mission to rescue cute animals and the goal to offer fresh and exciting drinks and eats, what’s not to love about the new addition to San Antonio’s coffee scene?
“San Antonio… WE CAT wait to meet you all! 🐾,” Adams said via email.
“At the end of the day, we truly believe everyone needs a cat in their life… because your happily furrever after starts here. 🐱💜”
Adams confirmed that there will be a “cat-nimated” fun grand opening. Keep your eyes peeled and ears perked on the brand’s social media pages for the latest details on the Purr-Fecto Cat Lounge San Antonio grand opening.
