There are some big burger-related changes happening at CityWalk, located at 6000 Universal Boulevard at Orlando’s Universal Resort.
Burger King’s Whopper Bar — the upscale Burger King restaurant that offers nearly two dozen potential burger toppings that guests can use to design their own custom Whopper — is shuttering after 17 years.
The restaurant will close after service on April 21, according to a press release. Burger aficionados will be happy to note that Five Guys has been targeted to move into the space, with an expected opening date of summer 2026.
The Orlando Business Journal reports that Utah-based North Star Dining USA Inc., will operate the new Five Guys. The restaurant group owns more than 15 Five Guys locations in the Orlando market.
Five Guys was founded in 1986 in Arlington, Virginia by Jerry and Janie Murrell. The restaurant is wildly popular for its burgers made with fresh beef, hand-cut fries served in paper sacks, and unlimited free peanuts in the shell. It has grown exponentially, with more than 1,700 locations throughout the world.
