Founded in the heart of Paris in 2002 by Cristiano Sereni and Paolo Benassi, Amorino Gelato al Naturale was Sereni’s and Benassi’s way to “combine their two passions: Italy – gelato.”
“Amorino sets itself apart thanks to its philosophy of only using carefully sourced ingredients, all of which are free of preservatives, artificial flavors and flavor enhancers, to make their artisanal gelati,” says the Amorino website. “Then, using a spatula, the gelati are shaped like a rose, making them both unique as well as appetising and easily recognisable.”
Amorino has since made its U.S. debut and expanded to cities like New York, Fort Worth, Houston, and San Francisco, and now it’s preparing to open in St. Petersburg, at 1246 Central Ave.
Word of the opening got out last summer, when an opening was still expect for 2025. This week, however, What Now came across plan review paperwork submitted St Pete Gelato LLC for the Amorino Gelato location (which is “Coming Soon” according to the Amorino website), indicating that the opening is going forward.
Amorino’s flavors have included Roasted Peanut, Blood Orange, Tiramisu, Organic Italian Almond Sorbet, and more. At Amorino St. Pete, you’ll find “Ice creams and sorbets, sundaes and milkshakes, gelato macarons, crepes and waffles, hot drinks, gelato cakes, Italian pastries.”
