Trader Joe’s is set to undergo interior upgrades at its San Antonio location, according to recently filed permit records with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation.

The retail store was founded in 1967 and is a national neighborhood grocery chain known for its private-label products, seasonal offerings, and value-driven pricing. The company has built a strong reputation for sourcing unique products globally while maintaining a curated in-store selection focused on quality and affordability.

According to the permit, the project is planned for 403 N Loop 1605 W in Bexar County, where filings outline a renovation and alteration of the existing grocery store space. The 12,466-square-foot project carries an estimated construction cost of $2.5 million.

The project scope of work includes new refrigeration and freezer cases, a transition from gas to CO2 refrigeration systems, new bridge installations, updated checkstands, a new crew restroom, and a new walk-in cooler. The upgrades are expected to enhance both operational efficiency and the in-store shopping experience.

Public records show the project is scheduled to begin construction on June 1, 2026, with completion expected by December 1, 2026. The filing notes that the project is privately funded, with tenant funds used for the buildout. Inventrust Property Management is listed as the property owner.
