After a successful run in Northwest Portland, the restaurant is now moving to the eastside.

It is being reported Langbaan will occupy the former Bar Casa Vale space at 215 SE 9th Avenue. The bar just recently announced their closure. Owner Earl Ninsom told What Now Portland he is hoping to debut the new location by this October.

“We really enjoyed our time in NW but we believe our home is back in SE. So much history in this building and we cannot wait to share it,” says a recent post on their Facebook page.

Ninsom has played a large part in Portland’s culinary scene, opening concepts like OK Chicken and Khao Soi in Richmond and Paadee in Kerns. He first opened Langbaan in 2014 in Southeast Portland, and later moved the restaurant to Nob Hill. The team had always enjoyed their time on the Southeast side.

Langbaan has become popular for their Thai staples like Miang Som with shrimp and valencia orange, Guay Tiew Rua flank steak and Phla Pla bigeye tuna. Each dish comes with a wine pairing, with pours both national and international. The menus are seasonal and are based off of the chef’s inspirations.

The restaurant is coming to the intersection of SE 9th Avenue and SE Pine Street. It will share space with Scotch Lounge and The Paper Bridge Vietnamese spot. This is on the north side of the Buckman neighborhood.
