A Houston neighborhood favorite bar and restaurant is set to close this weekend after a brief run. The closure follows the sale of the property housing Good God, Nadine’s. The community reacted to the loss of their local gathering spot.

Good God, Nadine’s Closing After Just One Year

On May 21, 2026, Good God, Nadine’s took to Instagram to announce the closure of the restaurant. The establishment completed a year in the market and will serve its final meal on May 31, 2026.

The restaurant is known for its cocktails, Gulf Coast-inspired dishes, and an eclectic atmosphere. It is a late-night gathering spot for locals. In the closure announcement, the restaurant said, “The building has been sold, and May 31st will be our last night of service. We had hoped it would go on longer, but in this life, well, one never knows.”

The tagline, “Love is real, and you’ll find it here,” worked for Nadine’s, and the community showered its love on the space. The restaurant thanked the staff and community and invited them to visit as it prepares to close.

Its loyal followers are saddened by the news as they outpour their emotions on social media. One of the diners commented, “I’m so sad! Will definitely come in to say goodbye and enjoy a crab dip and Mango Sticky Rice (or 3). You will be missed!!

What Made Good God, Nadine’s Special

Two native Houstonians with a long history of hospitality founded Good God, Nadine’s. It started as a neighborhood hangout for bold cocktails, Gulf Coast cuisine, and southern hospitality.

The concept was inspired by the owners’ hydroponic farm, Verdegreens, in Houston’s Acres Homes district. It provides many of the fresh herbs, greens, and produce for the restaurant. The team describes the restaurant as “Houston-born, farm-fed, Gulf Coast inspired.”

In 2025, the restaurant officially debuted in Houston. The area incorporated indoor seating, bar, and patio spaces to allow for long social evenings revolving around food and drink.

It serves a mix of Southern comfort food, seafood from the Gulf of Mexico, and other international cuisine. Small plates and snacks feature cornbread, hot crab dip, sesame guacamole, fried Brussels sprouts, aguachile verde, and smoked chicken wings.

The kitchen also offers sandwiches and po’ boys, such as blackened redfish, shrimp, braised beef debris, and its signature smashburgers with hand-cut beef tallow fries.

One of the highlights of the party at Good God, Nadine’s, is the cocktail hour. The bar stands out for its focus on fresh ingredients, homemade syrups, and inventive blends. Signature cocktails include the Mango Sticky Rice cocktail, the Houstonian cocktail, and the Tokio Collins.

Although its run was brief, Good God, Nadine’s established itself as a unique addition to Houston’s bar and dining landscape.
