Hawkers is once again serving guests at its East Nashville restaurant after a fire forced the business to close for more than three months earlier this year.
The Asian street food concept resumed service at 626A Main Street on May 13 after completing repairs to the building. According to reporting by the Nashville Tennessean, the closure followed a February grease fire that damaged the restaurant’s kitchen and roof.
While restoration work was underway, the company took the opportunity to make light updates throughout the restaurant. The Nashville Tennessean reported that guests can expect the same vibrant atmosphere that has become a hallmark of the brand, along with a refreshed interior and several new menu additions.
Among the new offerings are bò tái chanh, a Vietnamese-style beef carpaccio, and nasi lemak, a Malaysian coconut rice dish traditionally served with peanuts, anchovies, and optional curry. The Nashville Tennessean also reported that fan favorites such as Hawkers’ roti and five-spice green beans remain on the menu.
According to Hawkers’ website, the company was founded in Orlando in 2011 and draws inspiration from the street food cultures of Asia, serving dishes influenced by cuisines from countries including Malaysia, China, Thailand, and Vietnam.
Hawkers has expanded from a single Orlando restaurant into a 15-location chain serving guests across multiple states.
