Founded in Jacksonville in 1994 by former firefighters Chris and Robin Sorensen, two brothers from “a family that is both entrepreneurial and built on decades of fire and police service,” Firehouse Subs has become a household name, growing to more than 1,450 locations.
As the brand continues to expand in its home state, a new location appears to be in the works in Palm Bay, at the Heritage Square retail center.
According to plan review documents submitted by T&A Sandwiches LLC, a new Firehouse Subs is in the works at 130 St. Johns Heritage Parkway, where it would join the Publix-anchored retail center, which is also home to a McDonald’s.
The Firehouse menu features Hot Specialty Subs like the Firehouse Captain’s Club (spicy chicken with bacon & hero sauce), the Pepperoni Pizza Meatball Sub (meatballs, pepperoni & marinara), and the Hook & Ladder (turkey & ham with Monterey Jack cheese).
“People come back when they’re treated well and fed well,” says the Firehouse Subs website. “Turns out, people absolutely LOVE the same things as our Founders – the best meats, cheeses, and toppings we can find. Take our Hook & Ladder® Sub for example… People come back again and again because, unlike other sub places, we steam our meats and cheeses, releasing a rush of flavors, then stuff a serving that’s way over code on one of our toasted private-recipe sub rolls. It’s a winning combination that satisfies ravenous appetites and the value-conscious alike.”
