Tonchin is preparing to bring its Tokyo-style ramen to Columbus, with a new location planned at 965 N. High St. in the Short North, according to Columbus Underground.

The Japanese restaurant will move into the former Mecha Noodle Bar space. While signage for the upcoming location has already been installed, an official opening date has not yet been announced.

Founded in Tokyo in 1992 by brothers Katsuhiro Sugeno and Motohiro Sugeno, Tonchin made its U.S. debut in Manhattan in 2017 under the leadership of Anan Sugeno. The brand has since expanded to Brooklyn, Los Angeles and Mexico City.

Tonchin is known for its signature ramen bowls, including the Tonchin Classic Tokyo Tonkotsu, Smoked Dashi, Spicy Tan Tan and Miso Ginger, along with dipping noodles, mazemen and Japanese-inspired starters.

What Now Columbus reached out for additional details regarding the Columbus location, including its anticipated opening timeline. This article may be updated as more information becomes available.
