San Francisco-based fast-casual chain The Melt has opened its first airport location. The restaurant opened its doors on July 8, offering its signature MeltBurger and comfort food menu to travelers at SFO. The new location expands The Melt’s presence into the airport dining space for the first time.

The Melt Has Landed at San Francisco International Airport

The Melt has opened a new restaurant at the Harvey Milk Terminal 1 at San Francisco International Airport (SFO). The opening comes as the company continues to expand across California.

The Melt CEO Ralph Bower said the brand chose SFO because of its connection to the company’s hometown. “We are excited to bring our bold, melty comfort food to travelers from around the world. The Melt is proud to be one of the highest-rated burger chains in the country, with an average 4.7-star rating across Yelp and Google.”

“We’re excited to share The Melt with millions of SFO travelers and give them a true taste of the brand our Bay Area guests have loved for years,” he added.

SFO is now its 24th location and its first airport location. This marks the company’s largest expansion, with plans to reach 30 locations across California and Arizona by the end of the year. The Harvey Milk Terminal 1 location is open daily from 4:30 a.m. to 10 p.m.

The airport location features The Melt’s signature MeltBurger, grilled on a charcoal barbecue patty pan. Customers can also order sandwiches, skin-on fries seasoned with the brand’s custom Melt Spice, and thick hand-spun shakes.

The SFO restaurant, in addition to its main menu, features several airport-exclusive offerings. Each morning, travelers can enjoy a dedicated breakfast menu. Options include the Breakfast MeltBurger with fried egg and bacon, breakfast burritos, freshly baked pastries, and Peet’s Coffee.

The location will also serve the Harvey Milkshake year-round, with proceeds benefiting Equality California.

Ralph Bower stated the SFO restaurant will be providing a great introduction to The Melt to many first-time visitors. “We’ve spent 15 years building a huge fan base across California and Arizona. Most of the people walking through the Harvey Milk terminal at SFO are meeting us for the first time, and that’s what makes this opening different from any other we’ve done.”
