The former home of Cafe Zella is receiving a new tenant. Wellside Cafe is planning to open in the space at 1531 Wilshire Blvd, Unit A, in Santa Monica.

Santa Monica local Mary Anne Roberto, who is the owner of Elder-Well Adult Day Program in Santa Monica, is behind Wellside Cafe. Roberto is seeking to revive the atmosphere of Cafe Zella and to offer similar menu items, with plans to offer additional grab-and-go options, according to reporting by the Santa Monica Sun. Wellside Cafe is targeting a mid-August opening.

The spot will serve coffee, breakfast and lunch, and its “coming soon” poster indicates that it will aim to serve appealing options for healthcare workers due to the cafe’s proximity to UCLA Santa Monica Medical Center.

What Now Los Angeles reached out to Roberto and the team for additional details but did not hear back prior to the time of publication.
