AKAMI Sushi has a new location in the works, according to a recent ABC filing. AKAMI Izakaya & Sushi will open in Monrovia at 929 W. Huntington Dr., which formerly housed Oto-Oto Izakaya.
AKAMI opened its first location in 2024 in Arcadia, launched by master sommelier and chef Jeffry Undiarto. It expanded to Toluca Lake in June. The forthcoming Monrovia location will mark the third for the AKAMI brand.
The spot serves fresh sushi and noodles, and it offers 18-item omakase experiences. The beverage program features cocktails, sake, beer and non-alcoholic beverages.
“At AKAMI Sushi, Jeffry blends Michelin-level technique and hospitality with a more playful, approachable dining experience,” the website states. “Known for its dedication to sourcing the freshest fish and ingredients, omakase experiences and curated beverage and sake program, AKAMI Sushi has become recognized as one of Los Angeles’ standout modern Japanese dining destinations.”
What Now Los Angeles has reached out to the team for additional details on the opening timeline in Monrovia but did not hear back prior to the time of publication.
