Longstanding Atlanta gym Urban Body Fitness is planning to relocate from its existing location at Amsterdam Walk amid plans to redevelop the Amsterdam Walk site. When it relocates next year, the gym will open in a 1966 building at 812 Lambert Dr. NE and is currently in the permitting process. Owner Rad Slough told What Now Atlanta that they are planning to relocate in February 2027 and will remain open at Amsterdam Walk until then.
Urban Body Fitness originally launched in 2002 and moved to the Amsterdam Walk location in 2010.
The Lambert Drive building formerly housed The Creative Circus and has sat vacant for the past three years. The relocation will entail an expansion of the Urban Body Fitness space, increasing the footprint of the facility from 19,000 square feet to 30,000 square feet. In addition to adding 1,500 square feet of new equipment, Slough is teaming up with fellow Amsterdam Walk business Team Octopus Midtown. Operated by Blaine Strickland, Team Octopus Midtown will transform into Urban Body Group Fitness and operate within the new Urban Body Fitness to offer classes in Muay Thai, Jiu Jitsu, boxing, and strength and conditioning.
Other amenities will include a sauna, a cold plunge and a red light therapy bed.
In addition to the gym, the building will feature 5,000 square feet of office space, and Slough will be adding a hair salon to the site, as well.
Slough said the renovation will cost $1.1 to 1.4 million and will require a brief closure for the final transition to the new space in early 2027, likely for a couple weeks.
When Urban Body Fitness reopens in the new space, the gym will offer tiered memberships ranging from basic options to memberships that grant access to premium amenities. In addition, the team will offer a discounted rate to those who live in the surrounding neighborhoods near the new facility. Urban Body Fitness will also continue to offer corporate memberships, which currently include The Home Depot and Delta.
