Ghost Sando Shop is adding a new location in Westwood. It will open at 901 Westwood Blvd in Westwood Village in a space formerly home to Pret a Manger (ToddRickAllen spotted the signage). Owner Benjamin Sales told What Now Los Angeles that they plan to open by the end of September.
Sales launched the brand with his wife while operating his other business, Ghost Pizza Kitchen. A landlord came to him with a potential space and Sales decided to try out a sandwich concept.
“Honestly, by fluke, we opened Sando. Then it just caught virality and it took off,” Sales said. “We got a lot of requests to come to certain areas. We started getting a lot of people coming from different parts of the LA market, Ventura, Orange County, San Diego and beyond. So we just listened to the demand and we started growing because the potential was there.”
The 1,100-square-foot space in Westwood will feature 20 indoor seats for dining as well as 10 to 12 patio seats. It will join existing locations in El Segundo, Los Angeles, Huntington Beach, La Mirada, Burbank and Melrose. They are also planning their first out-of-state expansion in Idaho, which will open by the end of the year.
The menu features hot and cold sandwiches with names such as The Melrose and The Terminator. They also serve breakfast sandwiches and will be rolling out new English muffin sandwiches in the next few weeks across all locations.
“The long-term goal is national growth and expansion. I feel there’s a void in the sandwich market in the flavor profiles that we offer,” Sales said. “There is a vision in the very near future for individuals to have the ability to own their own Ghost Sando Shop.”
