Paisley Park Resale, a premier children’s and maternity consignment shop, is preparing for a major expansion as it relocates to a significantly larger storefront in Thibodaux.
Owner Jennifer Robinson is moving the business from its longtime home in Houma to a new 8,250-square-foot space in the Nicholls Shopping Center at 503 St. Mary St. The move, slated for completion by Sept. 1, will more than double the shop’s current footprint. Robinson said the expansion is necessary to accommodate a growing inventory of older youth sizes and to provide a dedicated area for maternity wear — a service she says is increasingly difficult to find in person.
“I am the only place in two parishes that you can physically walk into a store and buy maternity clothes and try them on,” Robinson said. “Other places sell it, but only through online.”
The move also allows Robinson to stock more high-demand baby gear, such as strollers and swings. She noted that being a brick-and-mortar resale shop parents to test equipment with their children before making a purchase.
“Babies are so picky,” she said. “I tell people all the time, ‘Put your baby in the swing and see if they even like it before you buy it.’’”
While the relocation marks a new chapter, Robinson remains committed to her roots in Terrebonne Parish. She expressed a strong desire to return to Houma with a second storefront once she finds a location that fits the store’s larger scale.
“The goal is to absolutely come back and have a second location in Houma when the right space opens up and it’s big enough to continue to service the Terrebonne Parish area,” Robinson added.
