A new chapter is brewing for SereniTea House, which is moving from Mendon to Hudson and rebranding as SereniTea Café.
SereniTea House is leaving Mendon behind for a fresh start in Hudson, where the tea shop will reopen as SereniTea Café at 162 Main Street. The business closed its original location at 4 Maple Street on September 23 and is using the move as an opportunity to expand its food and beverage offerings, retail selection, events, and community-focused programming while building on what customers already love about SereniTea.
Owner Alan Sanchez told What Now Boston that the move is about much more than simply finding a new address. “We learned so much from our Mendon location and built an incredible community there,” Sanchez said. “As the business evolved, we realized we wanted a space that would allow us to expand on what people already loved about SereniTea while giving us the opportunity to create something even more special.”
While the name is changing, much of what made the original concept so beloved in Mendon will remain. Guests can still expect premium loose-leaf teas, matcha, coffee, specialty drinks, pastries, and the welcoming service that the business has become known for.
The Hudson location, however, will allow SereniTea to offer a “more complete café experience.” The team is planning an expanded food menu with freshly prepared sandwiches and other elevated café offerings, along with a larger beverage program and retail selection.
And while the menu is getting bigger, Sanchez said the heart of the business will remain its sense of community. “Our vision has always gone beyond simply serving great coffee and tea,” he explained. “We want to create a warm, welcoming space where people can meet a friend, work for a few hours, bring their family, or simply slow down and enjoy being there.”
SereniTea Café also plans to bring people together through tea classes, community gatherings, workshops, and other events and programming. Community, connection, and wellness will be central to the Hudson location, and the team hopes to use the café as a platform to support mental health, recovery resources, and organizations doing meaningful work in the community.
“We are incredibly grateful for everyone who supported us in Mendon, and we are excited to bring everything we learned there into Hudson,” said Sanchez. “We see this as an opportunity to take what people loved about SereniTea and build something even better around it.”
Buildout is currently underway at the Hudson space, and SereniTea Café is targeting a fall 2026 opening. The team plans to announce an official opening date once the buildout is further along and the space is ready to deliver the experience Sanchez envisions.
