A small group of fast-casual Mexican restaurants is bringing its signature customizable fare to Boston’s Back Bay/Fenway area this fall.

Boston Restaurant Talk reports that Achilito’s Taqueria will open a new location at 1114 Boylston Street, taking over the approximately 2,300-square-foot space formerly occupied by Little Steve’s Pizzeria. The team confirmed the news with What Now Boston, noting that the restaurant is targeting a late October 2026 opening.

The new location will serve the same fresh Mexican fare that has become a staple at Achilito’s existing restaurants, with a menu built around customizable burritos, bowls, tacos, quesadillas, nachos, enchiladas, and more. Diners can choose from protein options such as al pastor chicken, spicy steak, ground beef, carnitas, grilled shrimp, and fried cod.

There will also be plenty of options for diners with dietary preferences or restrictions, including vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free bowls and burritos, with Impossible Foods beef and chorizo crumbles among the available fillings. Additionally, Achilito’s offers an assortment of house-made toppings and salsas, including jalapeño lime crema, salsa verde, spicy ranch, mole rojo, mango salsa, pineapple salsa, chipotle mayo, vegan chipotle mayo, and spicy habanero.

Founded in October 2018 in Jamaica Plain, Achilito’s has grown from its original location into a small local chain. Once the Boylston Street restaurant opens, it will bring the total number of Achilito’s Taqueria locations to four, joining restaurants in Jamaica Plain’s Forest Hills area, Cambridge’s Harvard Square, and Foxborough’s Patriot Place.

The new restaurant will take over the former site of Little Steve’s Pizzeria, which reopened in the spring of 2025 and closed again around the beginning of 2026. The space had previously been home to the original Little Steve’s Pizzeria, which operated there from 1968 until closing in 2021. The two iterations were under different ownership.
