Café Vida, a California restaurant serving all-day breakfast and Latin-inspired dishes, is preparing to return to Pacific Palisades at 548 Palisades Drive.
The company recently submitted a liquor license application to open its newest location in the former home of K Bakery Eatery + Bakeshop. Café Vida previously operated in the Palisades Village for 23 years before the January 2025 Palisades Fire destroyed its location. This new location is expected to open in Fall 2026, according to the Palisadian-Post. Customers can expect Café Vida’s familiar menu of breakfast, brunch, California-inspired dishes, juices, and beverages. Café Vida has continued operating its Culver City and El Segundo locations following the fire.
Café Vida first opened in 2002 and became a longtime part of the Pacific Palisades community. Co-owner Luis Castaneda previously worked as an advertising agency executive and lived in the Palisades for years, while his future business partners had operated a café called Pure Energy before joining him at Café Vida. The ownership group has also said it hopes to provide a gathering place for the community once again and support its employees, many of whom were affected by the fire.
The menu at Café Vida includes all-day breakfast dishes such as buttermilk pancakes, California omelets, huevos rancheros, chilaquiles, breakfast quesadillas, and breakfast bowls. The restaurant also offers salads, sandwiches, burgers, and California- and Latin-inspired dishes, along with fresh juices and brunch drinks, including mimosas, Bloody Marys, sangria, and locally sourced beers.
