Big Bend Materials LLC has officially commenced bankruptcy proceedings. Case records do not specify the reasons that may have prompted the filing by the construction materials company.

Note: A Chapter 11 bankruptcy filing is a legal process that allows a business to reorganize its debts, restructure obligations, and continue operating while working toward financial stability. Under Chapter 11, a debtor typically proposes a plan to repay creditors over time, subject to court approval. A Chapter 11 filing does not necessarily mean a business is closing or going out of business. For additional information, readers are encouraged to contact the business directly.

Big Bend Materials LLC Seeks Chapter 11 Protection

Case records, as available on PACER, show that the company submitted its petition on August 25, 2026. Authorized representative Herman Arnold Acosta Jr. signed the petition prior to filing.

The records identify Big Bend Materials LLC as a small business debtor, adding that it decided to move forward with a Chapter 11, Subchapter V filing. This provision is typically designed for small businesses wanting to manage their bankruptcy formalities in a streamlined manner.

Attorney Robert T DeMarco of DeMarco Mitchell, PLLC is representing the company in this case.

Big Bend Materials LLC’s bankruptcy comes as the U.S. ready-mix concrete industry faces weaker demand. According to Concrete Financial Insights, ready-mix concrete shipments fell 1.7% in 2025 to 373 million cubic yards. The reduction was noted as higher interest rates slowed residential construction and reduced concrete production in some areas.

Other than this, the recent case comes as construction companies face rising material costs. According to the Associated General Contractors of America, prices for materials and services used in nonresidential construction rose 3.6% year over year in November 2025. In addition, contractors’ bid prices increased only 2.7%.

Highlights from the Petition

Court records show that the company submitted a summary of assets and liabilities. According to it, while the assets of Big Bend Materials LLC were approximately $1.08 million, its liabilities were estimated to be around $961,099.

The company also submitted a list of creditors with the largest unsecured claims. These included Permain Basin Materials, Texas Commission on Environmental Quality, Allied Compliance Services, and C & A Associates II. The list also mentions Byzwash, whose claim is shown as contingent, disputed, and unliquidated.

Case records indicate that once the administrative expenses are cleared, no funds will be available for the unsecured creditors.
