The Hedley Club is set to reopen at the historic Hotel De Anza in downtown San Jose as part of the property’s ongoing restoration. Located at 233 W. Santa Clara St., the Art Deco bar is expected to reopen in late September under the Cal-India Collective, the restaurant group founded by chef-owner Srijith Gopinathan and Ayesha Thapar, according to the San Francisco Chronicle.

The project marks the group’s first major expansion into San Jose. Cal-India Collective operates Bay Area restaurants including Copra, Eylan, Ettan and Little Blue Door. Rather than bringing one of its existing Indian concepts to the hotel, Gopinathan and Thapar developed a menu intended to reflect the California setting and the history of the property.

The Hedley Club’s menu will follow a Northern California bistro format, with dishes including sourdough pizza, raviolo al uovo with kale and smoked ghee, pan-fried sea bass with kimchi butter, and a butter chicken hot dog.

Cocktails created by Merrick Rodrigues will incorporate California spirits and regional botanicals. The restaurant will retain elements of the original Hedley Club, including its painted ceiling, hand-carved bar, and ornate chandelier. The space previously closed when the hotel shut down in 2024. The Hotel De Anza, built in 1931, is undergoing a broader restoration while remaining open during the work.
