A Beloved Sherman Oaks BBQ Restaurant Is Closing After More Than 20 Years

Boneyard Bistro has announced that it will be closing on September 12.

Boneyard Bistro is closing its doors in Sherman Oaks this month. The closure brings the end of the restaurant’s more than two-decade-long journey in the neighborhood. Longtime customers of the BBQ spot have expressed their disappointment over the closure on social media.

Boneyard Bistro is Closing This Month

Boneyard Bistro, a longtime barbecue restaurant and bar, will serve its final meal on September 12. The restaurant is known for its Southern-style BBQ with Santa Maria-style grilling and eclectic bistro dishes.

The restaurant announced the news of its closure on social media.

“After more than 20 years, the time has come to say goodbye to Boneyard Bistro. From the bottom of my heart, thank you to every person who has walked through our doors, shared a meal, celebrated a milestone, brought their family and friends, and helped make Boneyard what it became,” the restaurant wrote.

Owner Aaron Robins thanked the community for the last 20+ years in the post. He explained that he will now be taking a break from the restaurant. He also encouraged everyone to look forward to the next chapter.

Boneyard Bistro has built a reputation around smoked meats, creative comfort food, beer, whiskey, and cocktails. Its casual, lively bar-and-bistro atmosphere made it a popular dining spot in the community. The menu includes slow-smoked baby back and St. Louis ribs, brisket, Santa Maria-style red-oak grilled beef, tri-tip, and BBQ sandwiches.

The closure announcement prompted longtime customers and former employees to share memories of Boneyard Bistro on social media.

One customer on Instagram wrote, “I worked here for ten years, met my wife here, and ate here. It’s a very special place and will remain in my heart forever.”

Another customer wrote, “Oh no! So sorry to hear. This is one of my regular spots. Loved being in walking distance and enjoying a cold one with the regulars. Cheers to the next chapter.”

Boneyard Bistro will serve its final meal on September 12, bringing its more than 20-year run in Sherman Oaks to an end.
