Miami-born Magie Wine Bar is heading north, with plans to open its third location — and first outside Miami-Dade County — in Fort Lauderdale’s Flagler Village this fall.
The neighborhood wine bar will open in October at 551 N. Federal Highway, bringing its combination of Spanish and Portuguese wines, playful food, and late-night programming to Fort Lauderdale.
The 1,400-square-foot location comes from co-owners Caroline Strauss and chef Ivan Barros, who have built a following for Magie through locations in Miami’s Little River and Coconut Grove neighborhoods.
Despite its focus on wine, Magie takes a decidedly unstuffy approach to the traditional wine-bar experience. Barros’ snack menu includes caviar and dino nuggets, escargot, truffle grilled cheese, Caesar fries, and charcuterie boards.
The wine program centers on a curated selection of bottles. The new location will also offer a daily happy hour from 6 to 8 p.m., along with a $35 two-hour bottomless wine option and $5 hot dogs.
Magie’s community-focused programming will make the trip north as well. Plans for Flagler Village include singles nights, craft nights, pop-ups, and collaborations with local businesses.
The expansion also places Magie in the heart of one of Fort Lauderdale’s fastest-growing dining and residential neighborhoods, where a wave of restaurants, bars and residential projects has transformed Flagler Village in recent years.
Magie Fort Lauderdale will be open Tuesday through Sunday until midnight, with extended hours until 2 a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays.
