Preslee’s Southern Good Eateryis embarking on its second opening, and it’s coming to Webster. The hearty Southern-inspired, family-owned eatery is planned to open in the space that once belonged to Webster landmark The Hop Nite Club & Diner, according to the Houston Business Journal.
The former nightclub space sits in the Clear Lake neighborhood at 17886 State Hwy 3. The plan is to open the second location in Webster by this fall, with a third opening coming to Katy not long after.
After a 38-year run, The Hop officially closed on Tuesday, Aug. 4. That’s when the Piper Hospitality Group, the team behind Preslee’s, announced the upcoming opening.
What Now Houston reached out to Justin Piper, the owner of Piper Hospitality Group, and his brother Brandon, the co-owner of the growing Southern restaurant chain. Unfortunately, we did not hear back from the Pipers by the time of this publication.
“As a family-owned Southern eatery, we offer something for everyone—whether it’s enjoying our expansive brunch menu, relaxing on our spacious patio with kids and furry friends, or unwinding at the bar. Perfect for any event or occasion,” the Preslee’s Southern Good Eatery website reads.
“Indulge in our special menu featuring classic Southern favorites with a modern twist. From hearty comfort food to innovative creations, there’s something for every Southern food lover to savor.”
Preslee’s Southern Good Eatery was founded in September 2019 by the Piper brothers in Houston’s Shady Acres/Heights neighborhood at 1430 W. 19th St. The location took over a former Chinese restaurant (Golden Cafe) and transformed it into an old-school general store feel. The rustic restaurant is named after Justin Piper’s daughter, Presley.
The booming restaurant chain serves classic comfort foods like chicken fried steak, shrimp and grits, burgers, and weekend brunch.
“Kickstart your day with our classic Southern brunch, offering something for everyone,” the brand’s website reads.
“From hearty comfort dishes to lighter fare, our menu is the perfect way to gather with family and friends for a great start to the day.”
Piper’s Hospitality announced an expansion to Katy, Texas, paired with a sister concept called Greenlee’s Mexican Kitchen. But before that opens, the Webster Preslee’s is set to open.
Webster’s new Preslee’s Southern Good Eatery is expected to have 120 seats compared to the 60 at the currently open Houston location. The bar will also grow from 12 seats to 60. You can still expect to find big-screen TVs and a play area for the kiddos.
Details about a grand opening have yet to be announced. But we’re sure that as we inch closer to opening, more will be revealed. So, keep your eyes peeled and your ears perked for the latest.
