As first reported in a Columbus Business First article, Gretchen Bonasera, the owner behind private cocktail club 80 East in Powell, is launching a second concept in Plain City called 114 West. The second concept is located at 114 W Main St and will occupy the third floor of a historic building that dates back to the 1800s.

Bonasera tells What Now Columbus that the building has a rich history, with the 3,000 square foot third floor originally serving as a Masonic lodge. With the third floor once again reverting to a private club, Bonasera sees 114 West as a way to pay homage to the history of the space.

In terms of the vibe, the club will have an elevated speakeasy feel and the interior features exposed brick walls, plush seating areas and elegant touches throughout. Anyone who has been to 80 East will recognize elements of the brand, such as plants interspersed in the decor and a curved bar, yet 114 West will have its own distinct aesthetic. Entering the club will also play into the speakeasy feel.

“The entrance will have a classic speakeasy, escape-room inspired style,” Bonasera promises.

The food menu will also largely be the same as the 80 East offerings and will include flatbreads, a meat and cheese plate and shrimp cocktail. And, of course, the cocktail list will include bourbon based drinks, as well as cocktails made with other spirits.

“Members can expect the same high-end scratch made cocktails inspired by travels around the world,” she says of the cocktail menu.

114 West will have the same hours of operation of 80 East and membership in either club provides access to both locations. The club is set to launch on August 1, but first, the establishment will host a handful of private, invite-only events beginning July 19. Follow 114 West on Instagram to learn more about how to attend the pre-opening events.
