Sprouts Farmers Market is expanding into Concord with a new store at 8885 Christenbury Parkway, taking over the former Earth Fare space at Christenbury Corners. According to The Charlotte Observer, the Phoenix-based specialty grocer submitted a plan to Cabarrus County for the grocery-to-grocery conversion in December 2025.
As reported by to The Charlotte Observer, the Sprouts project will be located at Christenbury Corners, a 129,319-square-foot shopping center near Concord Mills. The center is anchored by Kohl’s and Pet Supplies Plus and includes a mix of restaurant, retail and service businesses.
The Concord store will represent Sprouts’ first location in a Charlotte suburb, according to the publication. The grocer previously expanded its local footprint with stores in Ballantyne and Steele Creek before opening its third Charlotte-area location in NoDa in August 2025.
The Charlotte Observer reported that Sprouts entered the Charlotte market in 2018, opening its first local store at 15121 Ballancroft Parkway. In 2023, the company opened its Steele Creek store at 14124 Steele Creek Road, also occupying a former Earth Fare location. Its NoDa store followed in 2025 at 110 E. 36th St.
Sprouts is a specialty grocery chain headquartered in Phoenix. According to The Charlotte Observer, the company had more than 450 stores across 24 states and approximately 35,000 employees at the time of its January 2026 report.
