“A new chapter is almost here!” said a post published by the DeLand Community Page on Facebook. “From the family behind Terra Cafe Specialty Coffee, we’re excited to introduce La Flama Taquería! We’ve loved sharing coffee, pastries, and special moments with you at Terra Cafe. Now we can’t wait to welcome you to our new taquería.”
What Now confirmed the news with co-owner Jose Valverde on Thursday.
“It’s not going to be your normal taqueria,” Valverde said. “We’ll be doing a lot of quality, grass-fed meats local to Florida, from a farm that treats animals in a good manner.”
La Flama’s tacos will come with proteins like picanha, pastor, ribeye, lengua, shrimp, and vegetarian options, too. Tortillas are handmade in-house, and the restaurant will also feature a salsa stand free of charge for customers. There will also be a special offer for one free refill of aguas frescas.
The family-run restaurant will occupy about 2,500 square feet with seating for about 65 guests. A beer-and-wine license is in the works, although it may be delayed for a period after opening.
La Flama Taqueria is working toward an October/November opening at 2731 S Woodland Blvd in DeLand.
