T C Jester Food Mart is a household name in Greater Houston for more reasons than one. The convenience store is known for good snacks and eats and for making it accessible for busy drivers with a drive-thru. Now the brand is embarking on its second regional opening. According to a Texas Department of Licensing and Regulations permit, the new T C Jester Food Mart is expected to open in The Heights at 1602 W 18TH ST.

The retail space features roughly 0.46 acres (20,038 sq. ft.) with a 1,917-sq.-ft. freestanding building. The Greater Heights standalone commercial/retail property is located near the bustling 18th Street retail corridor. It is just down the road from the Heights Marketplace shopping strip, located at 18th and Durham.

The permit for the new T C Jester Food Mart details that construction is planned to start in December of this year and is slated to wrap up by the end of June 2027. If all goes well with permitting and the estimated $983, 200 construction project, the new T C Jester Food Mart should open by next Summer.

At the helm of the opening is Rizwan Hyder of Riz 2, Inc. What Now Houston reached out to Hyder, who was listed on the permit, to find out more about the expansion. Unfortunately, we did not hear back by the time of this publication.

“CITGO is recognizing all the good in our communities,” the Facebook page for CITGO, the gas station linked to the brand, reads.

“It’s a movement we call Fueling Good. Tell us how you’re Fueling Good every day.”

Along with its known snacks will come the fuel station operated by CITGO.

T.C. Jester Food Mart is a localized Houston convenience store and gas station node linked to addresses like 11550 T.C. Jester Blvd. The roadway and surrounding designations trace back to Dr. Thomas C. Jester (1884–1950), a prominent Houston Baptist pastor and civic leader who served on the Houston City Planning Commission and helped shape major municipal infrastructure and street plans in the mid-20th century.

Traditional neighborhood stops, like T. C. Jester Food Mart, under this designation function as localized convenience stores providing basic groceries, grab-and-go food items, beverages, and fuel infrastructure.

TC Jester Food Mart is anticipated to open in The Heights at 1602 W 18TH ST by next Summer.
