Wingstop, the fast-casual restaurant that offers made-to-order-wings, announced on Tuesday that it will launch a unique limited-time offering. The Dallas-based chain best known for its flavorful wings is introducing a “Sour then sweet” partnership that brings together Wingstop’s signature chicken with the tangy REDBERRY glaze only SOUR PATCH KIDS brand can deliver.

Called SOUR PATCH KIDS Wicked Punch, the limited-time offering pairs Wingstop chicken with the candy brand’s signature sweet-and-sour flavors.

Flavor and Menu Details

Halloween is all about the unknown and this limited-time offering packs a little trick to the treat delivering sweet, sour and savory experience all in one! The fried chicken mashup is at a whole new level and can be available on all the franchise offerings including bone-in and boneless wings, tenders, and its signature chicken sandwich.

Wingstop’s Flavor Experts have paired the Wicked Punch to coat diners’ choice of chicken with a mischievous, sour-then-sweet REDBERRY glaze and then top the delightful poultry with crunchy SOUR PATCH KIDS Bitz for a delightful, playful concoction.

Both companies’ executives agree that while the pairing may sound a little daunting at first, the flavor balance turns out to be a surprisingly delicious bite.

“Candy on wings? We know exactly what you’re thinking. But no, seriously, it has no business being this good,” Michael Skipworth, President and CEO of Wingstop, said in a release. “SOUR PATCH KIDS Wicked Punch wings bring sour and sweet together in a way only Wingstop can. It may sound unexpected, but one bite is all it takes to understand why this one is a treat.”

The match-up for the SOUR PATCH KIDS brand also marks the beginning of its latest campaign – the 13 Days of Mischief.

Lauryn McDonough, senior director of candy at Mondelēz International, said the SOUR PATCH KIDS brand typically focuses on candy during Halloween but decided to try something different this year by bringing its signature sweet-and-sour flavors to chicken wings. She added that the collaboration brings the two brands together in an unexpected way that reflects the playful spirit of the brand.
