Zay’s Place is applying for a liquor license at 529 W. Centennial Blvd. in Springfield, according to a filing with the Oregon Liquor and Cannabis Commission. The business is led by Andrea Hastings, and the application points to a new restaurant or bar coming to the space.

The address has been home to Twisted Duck Pub, a bar, sports bar and grill. The pub was known for burgers, a Reuben, chicken tacos and waffle fries, as well as a broad whiskey selection, and it hosted trivia, karaoke and comedy open mic nights. It sources its meat from neighboring Benedetti’s Meat Market.

Eugene has a bar with the same name. Zay’s Place at 3570 W. 11th Ave. describes itself as a cozy bar with craft beers, signature cocktails, live music and bar bites. This suggests it might be their second location, however the owner Andrea Hastings couldn’t confirm the details by phone call.

The liquor license filing is the first step toward serving beer, wine or spirits at the new location. Applicants typically go through OLCC review before they can begin selling alcohol. The building sits on Centennial Boulevard, a main road that runs through Springfield’s Glenwood and downtown districts, a short drive from Eugene. The street is lined with local businesses, apartments and restaurants.
