Menzies Aviation has filed a notice under California’s Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) Act listing 137 permanent layoffs at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), effective November 19, 2026.

The filing lists the affected workplace at 1 World Way in Los Angeles, the address associated with the LAX operation.

Menzies Aviation Announces Layoffs at LAX

Menzies officially filed with the state on Oct. 5 which is only a 45-day window to the impending terminations. Reasons for the short notification time were not provided.

California’s WARN law usually requires 60 days’ advance written notice for covered layoffs, although exceptions may apply. The available filing does not specify why Menzies is reducing its workforce.

Founded in 1833, Menzies Aviation is a global aviation services company that provides ground handling, cargo handling, aircraft fueling, executive aviation, and other services to airlines and airports. Its operations include passenger assistance, baggage handling, aircraft turnaround, ramp services, and cargo transportation, helping support the movement of passengers, aircraft, and freight.

According to its official website, Menzies operates at 347 airports across 65 countries on six continents. Its global network spans the Americas, Europe, the Middle East and Africa, and Asia-Pacific. The company works with airlines and airport partners to support day-to-day airport operations. Headquartered in London, United Kingdom, Menzies Aviation traces its roots to Edinburgh, Scotland.

Ground handling at LAX is a vital service that helps to maintain smooth transitions of incoming and outgoing flights. LAX, one of the busiest airports in North America, relies of services from providers like Menzies in order to ensure the logistics services continue to run smoothly.

The WARN filing lists 137 permanent layoffs at the company’s Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) location, effective November 19, 2026. However, the report does not specify which job roles will be affected or how the cuts may affect airport operations.
