Nocterra Brewing may be hinting at a possible return after abruptly closing its two Central Ohio taprooms in August.
According to 614.com, the brewery recently added a message to its official website reading, “Something’s brewing, stay tuned…” The update comes weeks after Nocterra described the closures as a temporary “pause,” citing challenges across the hospitality industry.
Public records filed with the Ohio Division of Liquor Control also show that Nocterra applied on September. 30 to renew its A-1-A liquor permit for its Powell taproom at 41 Depot St. The permit allows eligible businesses to serve alcoholic beverages for on-premises consumption.
However, the renewal application does not confirm that the Powell taproom will reopen or indicate a potential reopening date.
Nocterra has not filed to renew the permits for its former Audubon location at 516 Maier Place, where the permits expired October. 1, according to the report.
The brewery closed both locations on August 31, with employees and customers reportedly receiving little to no advance notice. At the time, the closures were characterized as a temporary pause, but the company has not publicly shared further details about its plans.
For now, the website message and Powell permit application offer possible clues about what may come next for Nocterra Brewing. The company has yet to confirm whether it plans to reopen either taproom, and no official reopening date has been announced.
