Honeygrow, a fast-casual restaurant specializing in made-to-order stir-fries, salads, and honey-based desserts, is planning to open a new location in Columbus at 2094 N. High St.
The Philadelphia-based company has filed building plans with the city for the property, formerly home to a United Dairy Farmers convenience store, according to Columbus Business Journal. The store was still operating as of Tuesday afternoon when the publication reported on the plans, and the timing of its potential closure remains unclear. United Dairy Farmers has owned the property since 1985.
Founded by Justin Rosenberg in Philadelphia in 2012, Honeygrow has expanded to more than 80 restaurants across nine states, primarily in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic regions. The company opened its first Columbus restaurant last year at 4784 Morse Road near Gahanna. It currently has seven Ohio locations, six in the Cleveland, Akron, and Canton area.
Honeygrow’s menu centers on customizable stir-fry bowls made with a choice of proteins, bases, vegetables, and sauces. Protein options include steak, chicken, shrimp, tofu, and egg, while bases include egg white noodles, whole wheat noodles, gluten-free rice noodles, brown rice, kale, and arugula. Signature dishes include Sriracha Tahini, Sesame Garlic, and Red Coconut Curry, which is listed as vegan and gluten-free.
The restaurant also serves salads and its signature Honeybar dessert, featuring fresh fruit and toppings finished with a choice of three honeys. Honeygrow has opened about 10 restaurants each year recently. Honeygrow has not announced an opening date for the proposed North High Street location.
