RaceTrac is working on another opening in San Antonio. According to a recently filed permit with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation, the convenience store and gas station company plans to open a 6,785-square-foot convenience store with auto and truck fuel canopies on San Antonio’s Northeast side at Eisenhauer Road & I-35.
The permit further details that construction of the new RaceTrac, set to open on San Antonio’s Northeast side, is expected to start toward the end of April 2027 and be completed by late July of next year. If permitting goes smoothly and the estimated $1.5 million construction project stays on track, the new RaceTrac should open by next summer.
What Now San Antonio reached out to RaceTrac CEO Natalie Bolch Morhous to find out more about the exciting new development. Unfortunately, we did not hear back by the time of this publication.
“Headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia, family-owned RaceTrac has been serving guests since 1934,” the RaceTrac website reads.
“Our mission is to make people’s lives simpler and more enjoyable, and we think it’s important to do so through giving back.”
The family-owned American convenience store and travel center chain was founded in 1934 by Carl Bolch, Sr., in Missouri as Carl Bolch Trackside Stations; it moved its headquarters to Atlanta in 1976 and rebranded to RaceTrac in 1979. Traditionally focused on the Southeastern United States, the chain has expanded into Midwestern and new markets, including recent openings in Ohio and Indiana.
There are now roughly 855 to 857 RaceTrac retail locations across 14 U.S. states, with a little under 140 stores in Texas. This would be the first RaceTrac opening in San Antonio.
What Now also reached out to Executive Director of Construction Ben Longmire to learn more about expansion plans. But we did not hear back by the time of this publication.
Beyond regular 87, mid-grade, premium, diesel, E85 flex fuel, and bulk DEF, RaceTrac also offers in-store pizza counters, roller grill favorites, fried chicken, Swirl World frozen yogurt, and fresh coffee bars. Select larger footprints feature high-flow diesel lanes, CAT truck scales, and truck parking to accommodate professional drivers.
Try it all out for yourself when the new RaceTrac opens on San Antonio’s Northeast side at Eisenhauer Road & I-35 by next summer.
(This is a developing story. As more information is made available, we will update this article. Stay tuned!)
