The Caffeine Library, a coffee shop and bookstore that pairs specialty drinks with a curated book selection, is expanding to San Antonio, with a new location planned for the city’s Northwest Side.
The business is preparing to open at 6707 Hausman Road, San Antonio, TX 78249, according to a Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation project filing. The project, registered under number TABS2027004481, calls for a 2,100-square-foot tenant finish-out of a new coffee shop and bookstore.
Construction is scheduled to begin Nov. 16, 2026, and reach completion by March 15, 2027. The project is estimated to cost $150,000. These dates reflect the construction filing and do not confirm an official opening date.
The San Antonio location will be The Caffeine Library’s second, after opening its first shop at 1518 W. University Drive in Edinburg in September 2025. Brothers Carlos and Jaime Montelongo and their mother, Melissa Montelongo, founded the business, according to KVAQ-TV, the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley’s student television station.
The concept grew from the family’s shared interest in coffee and reading. The Edinburg shop offers coffee-based drinks, matcha, pastries from local bakers, and books across genres including romance, science fiction, young adult fiction, and nonfiction.
The original location was also designed to serve as a gathering place for readers and community members. Its programming has included plans for book clubs and community events, alongside a comfortable setting where customers can enjoy drinks and browse books.
The Caffeine Library announced its San Antonio expansion on Instagram, describing the move as the growth of a family dream and promising to bring books, coffee, and the community it has built to a new location. The business has not yet publicly confirmed whether all the events and programming offered in Edinburg will be available at the San Antonio shop.
The new location will be part of the Hausman Road area, near Interstate 10, Loop 1604, and the University of Texas at San Antonio. The property is managed by Tenorio Properties, which describes the development as a mix of office and retail space serving the growing Northwest Side.
