The longstanding Downtown eatery cashes out, plans to open elsewhere.

Dania’s Restaurant and Lounge, a Mediterranean-style hookah joint, quietly closed its Downtown location August 26 after 20 years in business.

“We could not have been here so far if it was not for you,” the restaurant, at 26 Peachtree Street, wrote in a note pinned to its front door. “We appreciate every day we have served you.”

Dania’s Restaurant reportedly sold its highly-visible corner space to SunTrust Bank, took the money and ran.

“We will be relocating to a nearby location. If you wish to find us, leave your name and email with the cashier.”

According to permits filed with City of Atlanta earlier this year, SunTrust will open its “main” Atlanta branch in the Dania’s Restaurant space.

An estimated $753,000 will be spent converting Dania’s Restaurant into a the 3,765-square-foot SunTrust.

It’s unclear where Dania’s Restaurant will reopen.
