Westplan’s yet-to-be-named development calls for 310 apartments, a 200-room hotel, 65,000 square feet of office space, and 11,000 square feet of retail.
Westplan Investors earlier this month presented plans to City of Smyrna to erect a mixed-use development in Cumberland near SunTrust Park and The Battery Atlanta totaling more than 525,000 square feet.
The Cobb County Courier first reported the plans.
The 8.7-acre site at 2800 / 2810 Spring Road is currently home to a strip mall and the Emerson Center.
Westplan purchased the site in May for $7.2 million.
The yet-to-be-named project calls for 310 apartments, a 200-room hotel, 65,000 square feet of office space, and 11,000 square feet of retail.
The project, which has been tabled to a vote in September by the Smyrna planning and zoning board, would involve annexing 5.9 acres into Smyrna from unincorporated Cobb.
Westplan’s mixed-use development would be the fourth major project in that immediate area adding to Cumberland Mall, Cobb Galleria and SunTrust Park/The Battery Atlanta.
If approved, the project would break ground early 2018 with an expected grand opening in 2020.
Developing…
Hope it goes forward, but with changes. I just don’t see a need for ANOTHER 310 apartments. New ones at the Battery. New ones at Spring/Atlanta Rd (Publix). Plenty of existing complexes all over. Wish developers could come up with something “different” than the typical 300 apartments…
Last thing this area needs isore apartments. Make them actual homes.
