UPDATE (July 19, 2018): Aldi’s New Buckhead Store To Grand Open July 26
Aldi will open a new location in the Buckhead Pavilion shopping center at 3321 Peachtree Road, according to permit applications recently filed with City of Atlanta.
The supermarket will take over a portion of the space formerly occupied by Sports Authority.
The budget for the new store’s buildout is $2,000,000, including interior and exterior alterations.
Inside, the location gets new walls, floor slab, ceilings, restrooms and equipment, while the exterior receives a new facade, signage, entryway and pavement, according to the permit filing.
New gas and sewer lines are also in the works.
The new store is Aldi’s deepest foray yet inside the perimeter, and part of the chain’s aggressive growth plan to add 900 new locations by the end of 2022.
There are already more than 50 Aldi locations throughout Georgia, with more than 40 of those scattered throughout the metro-Atlanta suburbs.
The new discount grocery store will be just a tenth of a mile down Peachtree Road from Trader Joe’s. Both shopping centers are accessible by E. Shadowland Ave.
More to come as this story develops.
This was announced about six months ago, I thought, on this site.
Not exactly the typical Aldi demographic.
You may be surprised. I’ve seen more than a few high income types slumming at the Buford Hwy Aldi where I go. Once you get used to Aldi’s lack of amenities, it’s hard to continue to pay Kroger and Publix twice what Aldi charges for certain staples.
I was thinking the same thing hmmmm
