Family-owned bakery, The Original Goodie Shop, will expand its storefront and production space mid February, providing customers with a larger selection of their baked goods.
The shop has increased the amount of treats offered while adding a new selection of baked goods to choose from, including cheesecakes, scones, the specialty Italian dessert tiramisu, alongside more savory options with pot pies and quiche.
Additionally, The Original Goodie Shop is offering a larger selection of grab-and-go items for those looking to satisfy their sweet tooth or give a gift. The shop is excited to offer new treats in addition to their cinnamon sticks.
The shop also added a new item called the mega long john to the selection of giant baked goods.
“In addition to the giant flippo donut that has been around since the ‘60s, we’ve added a mega long john! It’s a giant cream filled and iced donut that we can write a message on, add sprinkles, or design for any occasion!” Smith said in a statement.
Owner Emilie Smith explained, “Having been in Columbus for 70 years, we have served generations of families while also supporting the community and organizations around us. The expansion allows us to further strengthen our commitment to the community while reinforcing the legacy of the Goodie Shop in Columbus.”
Smith prides herself on the shop’s commitment to supporting the community along with serving its customers tasty treats.
“We’ve made donations and done fundraisers for dog rescue, human trafficking, breast cancer, Alzheimer’s, the Upper Arlington Education Association, and even for a local boy who needed a bone marrow transplant.” Smith said.
In the coming weeks, the shop will have a tasting event celebrating the expansion and the shop’s 70th anniversary.
The bakery will be open Monday – Friday 7 a.m. – 6 p.m., Saturday 7 a.m. – 5 p.m., and remains closed on Sunday.
The Original Goodie Shop is located at 2116 Tremont Center, Upper Arlington, Ohio 43221.
