Storefronts to become self service while mall locations remain full service
Yoforia closed their Virginia Highland location on Friday, Dec. 31, with plans to reopen the fourth week of January with a new layout.
The frozen yogurt shop has launched a company wide initiative to retrofit all preexisting Yoforia storefronts will a self service model.
The West Midtown location, opened late last month at 1100 Howell Mill road as a self service location. Grand opening festivities are planned for Sat., Jan. 15 from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. according to Marsha Middleton, a company spokesperson.
“Self service goes over better for the consumer, especially for families who want to monitor their consumption and full customization.”
Yoforia will charge 0.39$ an ounce and offer nearly 30 toppings and 12 flavors.
The remodel will allow for six machines, each with two flavors tripling the number of available flavors from four to twelve. The theme, feel and colors will not change but there will be more room for seating.
“Some people over indulge even more with the self service,” Middleton said. “You can add more flavors and toppings and truly create a Yoforia experience.
The four original flavors were Dark Chocolate, Blueberry, Pomegranate and Original. The new flavors will include the original four as well as Pineapple, Mango, Cheesecake, Taro, Cookies and Creme, Vanilla, Ferrero Rocher and Honeydew.
The Brookhaven and Vinings locations are perfect examples of a self service layout, Middleton adds.
Here’s what the self-service layout looks like:

YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Images of dirty sticky machines leaking brown goo and children sneezing into the sprinkles come to mind.
Ick.

I’m a marketing guy, and even I sometimes can’t stand marketing people.
Marketing people don’t feel complete nowadays if they’re not pitching an “experience” or a “solution”. They’re selling frozen yogurt, for Pete’s sake. You’re not buying an apartment. Geez.
That’s in Morningside but never mind 🙂
To Skreet: You clearly have not been to their other self serve locations. WAY BETTER. Not even comparable. And not dirty.
What is Honey-do? Surely you aren’t referring to Honeydew 🙂
These places are overrated- Do they honestly think that opening a store on every corner is a good idea? People will get tired of them so quickly.
david, clearly that’s a honey-don’t. thanks! update made.

I’ve seen this model out in California and love it! Best one I had so far was Yogurtland in San Diego. Twelve machines (24 flavors), super smooth and creamy, all fresh toppings, and CLEAN! Far better than Fuji Yogurt a couple miles away. Icy consistency and bland flavors. What else would I like better? 35c per ounce (CA price) instead of 39c!
Whatever happened to good old ice cream?
Why couldn’t they just leave it as is? I don’t like this model. @ Skreet, you are right. The self service location in Druid Hills has yogurt dripping and people with unwashed hands touching everything! I’ll stick with the Perimeter location. Ugh!
