Jarrett Stieber is the latest chef to snag a piece of the forthcoming Summerhill development on Georgia Avenue with for Little Bear.
The Eat Me Speak Me founder will open his first brick-and-mortar at 71 Georgia Avenue, the Atlanta Business Chronicle Thursday first reported (paywall).
Stieber in an email to What Now Atlanta confirmed the news.
“I’m excited about the revitalization in the area and all of the other amazing tenants opening along Georgia Avenue,” Stieber said.
“It makes taking a risk on an up-and-coming neighborhood feel like more of a team effort. I also love the opportunity to save a small, historic building with character, to help bring new life to the space’s history.”
Little Bear, slated to open summer 2019, will occupy a 1,300-square-foot, 30-seat space.
The restaurant is named for Stieber’s dog—Fernando—whose stature reminds him of a small bear.
On the seasonal menu will be dishes crafted from local ingredients including eats from the Eat Me Speak Me pop-up (like the raw beef lettuce wraps.)
Little Bear is the second concept this week to be announced for the Summerhill neighborhood of Atlanta, currently undergoing a multi-million-dollar revitalization.
Former Hand-in-Hand staffers are opening a basement cocktail parlor called Conspiracy at the development.
Other confirmed tenants include Halfway Crooks, Hodgepodge Coffeehouse, Little Tart Bakeshop and its sister ice cream shop Big Softie, and Wood’s Chapel BBQ.
